Accelerated Success: Robert Lanni

Duke University’s Master’s in Financial Technology (FinTech) program is known for producing graduates who go on to become leaders in financial innovation. Among the current students preparing to follow that path is Robert Lanni, a student in the inaugural cohort of Duke FinTech’s accelerated program.

Robert is currently a Digital Asset Product Strategy Associate on the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC)’s Digital Assets Product team. In his role, Robert evaluates blockchain and other digital asset applications for new opportunities that can enhance the suite of products and services the DTCC offers. To further strengthen his knowledge of blockchain, digital assets, and fintech product applications, the DTCC gave Robert the opportunity to pursue a Master of Engineering in FinTech at Duke via the accelerated program. After seeing the opportunity to advance his career and learn more about topics such as machine learning, algorithmic trading, and statistical analysis, Robert decided to be part of the first cohort of the accelerated program.

After completing one semester, Robert has already started to build his skill set he desires.  The rigor and challenge of the program has helped Robert develop a strong skill set in finance, technology, and management. Through his coursework, he has been able to explore and deepen his knowledge on topics familiar and unfamiliar to him, furthering his skill set in programming, data analytics, and entrepreneurship. Additionally, through the accelerated program, Robert will complete his Master’s in one year, advancing his career on a timeline that works for him.

Robert will graduate from the Duke FinTech program in May 2026.
