Accelerated Success: Angga Lesmana

Duke University’s Master’s in Financial Technology (FinTech) program is known for producing graduates who go on to become leaders in financial innovation. Among the current students preparing to follow that path is Angga Lesmana, a student in Duke FinTech’s accelerated program.

Before joining the Duke FinTech program, Angga was a central banking professional at Bank Indonesia. In his role, he focused on macroprudential surveillance and financial stability. Prior to working at Bank Indonesia, he worked as a finance analyst at DHL Supply Chain, where he focused on analyzing profit and loss. Through these roles, Angga realized he wanted to help shape future financial policies in banking surveillance, asset tokenization, and digital assets. This led him to explore how he could expand his technical skills and apply them to finance. After finding Duke FinTech, Angga realized that the program would provide him the skills he needed to close his gap in knowledge. He then decided to join the Duke FinTech accelerated program.

Though he just started, Angga is already building the skill set he desires. While learning to program for financial applications, Angga is learning how to build robust, scalable, and automated workflows for data analytics in Python. He is also learning the basics of blockchain (which he plans to expand upon) and skills in risk management. The skill set he is building is shaping his approach for policy formation, risk management, and maintaining financial stability. Further, Angga is developing in demand skills and forming his own approach without having to take an extended career gap.

Angga will graduate in May of 2027.
